Who We are
Hope Beyond Borders was born out of over 20 years of humanitarian work in Haiti. As the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, it has been associated with multiple hurricanes, destructive earthquakes, and political upsets over the years. Through the pioneering actions and connections to local Haitians forged by his wife, Kimberly Bui, Winston and his team have continued to work with the local community to make life better for all. While the growing political and economic turmoil have caused many charities and organizations to leave Haiti for their safety, we chose to continue our efforts in their most desperate hours.
Our Founder
Our founder, Winston Bui, is no stranger to this scenario. As one of the many refugees that fled Vietnam in 1975, Winston saw firsthand the effects of war and political unrest on the many innocents who would become known as the “boat people”. The experience left a mark on him that has spurred him to reach out to others in desperate circumstances to help bring solutions and hope. For over 20 years, Winston and his team have worked with the locals in Fond Doux, Haiti to become more resilient and self-reliant. Whether we’re giving financial and medical aid; supplying families with rice and beans; sponsoring kids to go to school; or mentoring and investing in the new generation of local leaders; our goal to alleviate suffering and fight for the opportunities for others to reach their potential remains at the heart of all we do.
In addition to our work in Haiti, Winston has established and preached at 4 college campus ministry chapters, including the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. Knowing the impact that one life can make in this world, he took time to mentor, challenge, and encourage students at each college campus. His work has had him travel to speak at leadership conferences, churches, and youth conventions where many have been touched by his story and challenged to grow.
Our Work
As our work has continued, we’ve found more doors opening for us to visit other nations such as Vietnam, China, the Philippines, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. The more opportunities that are opened to go to the hurting and the needy, the more Winston realized that the venues we had been using to support our mission simply could not handle the full scope of the impact we wanted to make. To that end, Winston Bui founded Hope Beyond Borders to allow for two things: to broaden the scope of our impact and to extend a greater opportunity for others to partner with us in our vision.
Our mission remains a simple one:
to bring healing and hope to america and the nations; and to equip and empower all people to reach their highest potential.
